He fled because he feared for his license. This is what a thirty-five-year-old man told the Carabinieri last night when they stopped him in Quartu (using a Taser) after a long chase that began in Cagliari and ended after his car crashed into a wall.

It all started on Viale Elmas, where the military had set up a roadblock. The thirty-five-year-old, a worker from the hinterland, who was traveling at high speed, initially slowed down but then, suddenly, stepped on the accelerator and fled.

The carabinieri chased him from a distance, without ever losing sight of him .

The mad dash ended in Quartu: due to his high speed, the worker lost control and crashed into a wall in Piazza Matteotti. He attempted to flee on foot. When they caught up, he attacked the Carabinieri, punching and kicking them.

To stop the violence, the police used the taser .

After being restrained, the thirty-five-year-old calmed down and was taken to the Brotzu emergency room for treatment: he is now charged with resisting a public official.
