He disembarked from the ship from Civitavecchia in a rental car with a load of burglary tools hidden in a compartment on the back of the dashboard. Empty beach houses during the winter were likely the target of a twenty-six-year-old from Rieti, who was stopped and reported by the Guardia di Finanza at Isola Bianca in recent days.

The Olbia branch of the Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle) decided to conduct a check on the alleged tourist from Rieti, who was driving a small car that turned out to be rented. The officers questioned him about the reason for his trip and its destination. The statements immediately proved contradictory. A search of the vehicle was initiated, revealing some anomalies in the dashboard area.

The routine investigation thus turned into an important preventative operation that led to the discovery, in a false bottom, of various screwdrivers, a pickaxe, an iron bar, and portable radio transmitters.

Tools that, given the manner in which they were transported, have given rise to well-founded suspicions of their possible criminal use.

The material was seized and the driver was reported at large to the Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office.
