The operation involved the joint efforts of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza , who had been monitoring packages sent by express courier for some time.
A box checked in recent days revealed a strong odor, associated with cannabinoids, which aroused suspicion . The police then began investigating the recipient, who, however, turned out not to exist. A surveillance operation was then set up in the shipping office until the real recipient arrived. When the man showed up, he was stopped by Carabinieri and Finance Police, who discovered a large quantity of narcotics in the package.
Subsequently, the search operations, also carried out with the help of the Guardia di Finanza's canine units, continued at the 25-year-old's home, where they found further significant quantities of narcotics, marijuana, hashish, and cocaine, as well as cash in various denominations, divided into bundles of €1,000 notes and vacuum-sealed in cellophane, for a total value of €28,000.
The young man is currently in prison in Bancali, where he was taken on charges of illegal possession for the purpose of dealing.
