The Cagliari court has ordered the liquidation of Ceramica Mediterranea di Guspini.
Mayor Marco Pala welcomed the news with this statement: "We are deeply saddened by the news of Cermed's bankruptcy. We have made every effort to prevent this outcome, recognizing that bankruptcy proceedings pose far more complex conditions for restarting and continuing the company's production activities."
"We express," the mayor continued, "our utmost concern, first and foremost for the employees and their families, whose future and life plans are closely tied to this work environment. Furthermore, the closure of such a significant company and the resulting loss of its industrial expertise represents a serious threat to our region, resulting in a worrying decline in our prospects for economic and social development."
Furthermore, Pala says, "we hope that the Region and all the institutional and social stakeholders involved will continue their unwavering efforts to find a solution that will allow for the rescue and relaunch of production. In the coming days, we will meet with the workers, along with the unions, to jointly define the next steps. In this delicate phase, we expect and strongly urge the Region to immediately activate all social safety nets and income protection measures necessary to protect the families affected by this serious crisis."
