Inspection of the regional guarantor of prisoners, Irene Testa, and the regional health councilor Armando Bartolazzi in the Uta prison.
"We visited the clinical center," Testa says, "accompanied by the prison director Marco Porcu and the commander. I think it is an extraordinary fact that, perhaps for the first time, a regional health councilor went to personally verify an intramural health facility."
The visit then continued to the Santissima Trinità hospital where for years there has been a department created specifically to meet Uta's needs, "but never put into operation. A structure equipped with all the detention security measures that has never been operational. The commitment made by the councilor is to work so that that department, as the law provides, can also be made available for the hospitalization of people deprived of personal freedom.
Testa hopes that the times will be quick: «Uta has registered the presence of 715 inmates today, most of whom suffer from serious pathologies. Health is a right that must be guaranteed to everyone».
