Yesterday evening, the Maremosso citizens' committee set up a flash mob to protest against the privatization of the former traffic light station and the Luigi Serra Battery which risk being transformed into luxury hotels after the concession (thirty years and upon payment of a annual fee of 35 thousand euros) from the Region to New fari srl for the enhancement and redevelopment of the two structures for accommodation purposes.

At sunset, many people, including many children, walked for an hour on the paths of the Capo Figari promontory to reach the summit, 344 meters high, where the traffic light used by Guglielmo Marconi to make the first radio connection is located shortwave, in 1932.

The protest to save Capo Figari, an area of environmental, historical and cultural value, began the day after the signing of the agreement between the Region and the Cagliari company (on 28 June) with two petitions launched on Change.org which, in total, collected over 50,000 signatures, arrived in Parliament and the European Commission with three questions, was the subject of peaceful demonstrations and meetings and, yesterday, the opposition group in the City Council 'Change with us' requested the convening of a urgent assembly that pronounces itself on the matter and expresses an opinion against the project.
