He allegedly stabbed him thirteen times , first in the back and then in other parts of his body, while Giovanni Musu, dying, begged for mercy and asked why he had been so violent. Then came the final gash, to his throat , and they waited to watch him expire before fleeing.

These are some of the chilling details gathered by the Carabinieri, led by prosecutor Danilo Tronci, yesterday closed the loop on William Serra, the thirty-eight-year-old they believe to be Giovanni Musu's killer. Serra himself reportedly shared these terrifying details with his ex-partner in text messages .

However, all suspicions have fallen against the second suspect, Marco Atzeni : it was he who found Musu's body in the pine forest of Monte Rosmarino and raised the alarm while the presumed murderer had already fled.
