Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni left La Maddalena this morning at 8:00 a.m., by car and aboard the scheduled ferry, just as she had arrived last Thursday. She was accompanied by her daughter and a small, discreet escort, after three days spent enjoying the sea, sun, and relaxation on the archipelago. Last night, the prime minister returned to Piazza XXIII Febbraio, where numerous supporters of the Brothers of Italy party awaited her, along with Mayor Fabio Lai, who had returned from vacation for the occasion, and Deputy Mayor Federica Porcu. Applause, greetings, and numerous selfies accompanied her last public appearance before her departure.

"La Maddalena is wonderful, the people are very welcoming but also very respectful," said Meloni. "It's a splendid area, with one of the most beautiful seas I've ever seen and extraordinary seabeds." The prime minister said she also enjoyed snorkeling and freediving: "I had a lot of fun and I relaxed. I absolutely recommend it." And when asked about a possible return, as happened with former presidents Carlo Azeglio Ciampi (5 times) and Mattarella (3 times), she replied with a smile: "I'm sure you'll see me again."

A simple vacation began Thursday with a scheduled flight from Rome to Olbia, a car ride to Palau, and a ferry ride like many other tourists. Having settled into a hotel in the city, Meloni spent most of the day on a dinghy with her daughter, visiting Caprera, Spargi, Budelli, Santa Maria, and Razzoli , swimming, and frugal lunches packed in a cooler. After initial reserve, on Friday the prime minister's presence became public with a stroll downtown, some shopping, an aperitif in Piazza XXIII Febbraio, and dinner at a restaurant overlooking Cala Gavetta. This morning, finally, she bid farewell to the island and departed.
