The sky of November 7, 1944: the Planetarium's reconstruction of the celestial vault of the night Gigi Riva was born has the honor of opening the special week dedicated to Rombo di Tuono. Next Thursday would have been the eightieth birthday of the Leggiuno bomber, who passed away last January. So many exceptional events in just a few days: this morning the start in the Sala Giorgio Pisano of L'Unione Sarda . Present, among others, the municipal councilor for Sport, Giuseppe Macciotta, the councilor for Culture, Maria Francesca Chiappe, and the president of the municipal council Marco Benucci.

"It's hard not to fall into rhetoric when talking about Riva. After all, he has marked our lives," said Macciotta, bringing greetings from Mayor Massimo Zedda and the municipal administration, and also telling some anecdotes: "I was twelve when Cagliari won the championship and tied its history to the Riva phenomenon. Then I had the chance to continue to hang out with him and his family because my dad was his children's pediatrician."

"The visit to Nicola and his brother's house to be visited by my father was a source of incredible emotion," confessed the councilor. "That's how I met Riva in his paternal guise, shy but affectionate. And we continued to be cordial, even if not intense. However, I always remember the casual encounters in the city, the pleasure of talking and also the moment of his approach to politics when Riva was considered as mayor of Cagliari. But he was far from this dimension and made everyone happy, because politics probably would have tainted his beautiful figure as a man and sportsman, who represented the Island more than anyone else. I don't think there's anyone like Riva: his myth has remained untouched, untouchable."
