"The activities of the Ghilarza Community Hospital, starting tomorrow, Monday, June 15, will be temporarily transferred to the Bosa Community Hospital for approximately one week to allow for the completion of work at the Guilcier facility within the scheduled timeframe," a statement released by the Oristano Local Health Authority (ASL) announced.

"The decision to relocate the facility," explains Grazia Cattina, General Manager of ASL 5, "was made to ensure maximum patient safety and comfort, which would otherwise have been impossible due to the ongoing construction work. We will do everything possible to minimize inconvenience to patients and to restore operations in Ghilarza as quickly as possible."

The Community Hospital is an intermediate facility that accepts patients with health conditions that would make admission to more intensive care units inappropriate, but who still require hospital care. These include chronically ill or frail, clinically stable patients for whom hospitalization is indicated due to the worsening of a pre-existing condition, or patients being discharged from acute care hospitals who require ongoing nursing care. The Community Hospital in Ghilarza, the first in Sardinia, was opened in 2023 and is now being strengthened and expanded thanks to funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
