A nightmare awakening for an elderly man from Ghilarza. Smoke filled the house, the air was unbreathable, and the flames grew increasingly threatening in seconds. The fire broke out suddenly in a house on Vico Santa Lucia: the pensioner managed to escape and raise the alarm.

It was around 4 a.m., and a team of firefighters from the Abbasanta detachment arrived on the scene immediately and managed to put out the fire after a long and complex cleanup effort.

The damage appears to be quite extensive, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, which, from initial findings, appears to have been accidental, perhaps due to a system failure.
