Ghilarza, a lesson to rediscover the ancient love serenades

In Ghilarza the aim is to rediscover the traditions of the past, to not lose forever the distinctive features of the history and culture of the past.
The project carried out for several weeks by the association Poetas Improvvisadores chaired by the poet Celestino Mureddu fits into this direction.
«The aim - the cultural association explains - is to bring back to life in our territory Sa serenada a santiga made with sos mutos from 60-70 years ago: they were true declarations of love towards one's beloved, whether male or female».
About twenty people from different villages of Guilcer participate in the lessons. The meetings started in April with a frequency of two hours per week. Among the participants, almost all age groups are represented and the students are showing great interest and enthusiasm. The youngest are seven students from the IB of the Secondary School of Ghilarza.
The path taken by the association Poetas Improvvisadores will end in the next few months with a final performance in the streets of Ghilarza. Several homes in the historic center will be the locations for the event. And the students will be accompanied in the proposition of the mutos by the accordionist Pietro Puddu and the young Irene Fodde.
