"The beginning of the end." This is how Snami Sardinia defines the regional agreement that provides for the presence of general practitioners in community homes.

The union did not sign the addendum to the regional supplementary agreement in the Region. "We have been absolutely consistent," stated Domenico Salvago, regional president of Snami, "in respecting our failure to sign at the national level. Instead, those who wanted this very serious obligation in the national agreement signed, and unfortunately, and we regret it, Luciano Congiu, regional secretary of Smi Sardegna, also signed, despite his national union having expressed opposition to the presence of general practitioners in community homes."

The union's regional vice president, Edoardo De Pau, emphasizes that the Region "doesn't want to acknowledge the lack of real direction for local healthcare in a context, clearly visible to all, of a severe shortage of care." "This agreement," he predicts, "is not only not the solution, it's actually unattractive and even worse because it will cause many doctors to leave the profession prematurely."

Finally, the union makes its dire prediction about this agreement: "This is the beginning of the end. We will shortly explain all the critical points, point by point."
