Glimmers of hope for GeNa , the autism rehabilitation institute in Sassari, a benchmark for all of northern Sardinia. Positive notes were reported today by the CGIL-CISL-UIL Civil Service unions at the meeting with workers at the Gesù Nazareno Institute. Their jobs have been in jeopardy for some time and the facility's management is trying to save them through a preventive settlement, currently under review in court, to repay their debts. Another critical issue has recently been added to the already complex situation. A few weeks ago, the unions raised the alarm over a regional measure that would lead to a rescheduling of spending caps, resulting in an estimated reduction in revenue of approximately €900,000 per year . "This situation," they explained, "risks significantly impacting the facility's economic and financial sustainability, to the point that it was suggested that the sole administrator may be forced to consider filing for bankruptcy with the competent court."
This situation could change soon, however. "We have received reassurances," stated Antonio Riu, health coordinator for the CGIL Fp in Sassari, Antonio Monni, general secretary of the CISL Fp Sassari, and Augusto Ogana, territorial secretary of the UIL Fpl, today. "The Chief of Staff will present a resolution to the council next Wednesday that will modify the allocation percentages for the GeNa, thus allowing for the rebalancing of finances."
A breath of fresh air, but the triple bank remains cautious until everything is finalized. And in any case, the sword of Damocles of the preventive settlement agreement , underway for almost two years, still hangs over the future of the 100 employees and 69 patients of a facility that represents one of the best in Sardinian healthcare.
