Amid a climate of deep concern, exacerbated by some very recent resolutions by the regional council, President Alessandra Todde is meeting with the mayors of the Northeast regarding the Gallura healthcare crisis.

In the conference room of Olbia's Archaeological Museum, the mayors are attending a meeting of the Socio-Health Conference. It was also the occasion for their first meeting with the new general director of the Olbia Local Health Authority, Antonio Irione.

The manager confirmed that he had begun collecting data, already known, on the dramatic problems in the departments and services of Gallura hospitals, starting with the Olbia Emergency Room. The mayor of Tempio, Gianni Addis, president of the Conference, once again highlighted the most serious situations in the local healthcare system.

The unions, particularly CGIL Funzione Pubblica and UIL FP, are up in arms following yesterday's confirmation of the opening of community hospitals in Olbia, La Maddalena, Tempio, and Ozieri. According to worker representatives at the Olbia Local Health Authority, the new wards will reduce resources and beds (approximately 60) for acute patients. The confederal unions have announced an initial strike package.
