He crashed his motorcycle into a bus. A 32-year-old Austrian rider was thrown onto the asphalt where he lay lifeless for a few minutes.

It happened today, along State Road 198, in the Gairo area. First responders reported his condition to be critical, so much so that the 118 operations center in Sassari requested the dispatch of the Areus helicopter. However, when the on-board doctor examined him, he deemed the motorcyclist's condition not serious enough to warrant air transport.

At that point, the motorcyclist was stabilized and loaded into the ambulance, which transferred him (with a red code for the accident) to the Lanusei emergency room. There, medical personnel performed all the necessary checks on the patient, and instrumental tests revealed widespread trauma. The motorcyclist's clinical condition is nevertheless encouraging, although the impact with the bus was quite violent and, at least initially, suggested a much more complicated outcome.

For a few days now, groups of motorcyclists, mostly foreigners, have been arriving in Ogliastra and every day they travel along the most scenic roads, sometimes at high speeds, posing a danger to other road users.
