The Gairo community loses its historical mind . Francesco Deiana, who would have turned 103 next April, passed away a few hours ago. A witness to his experiences in Auschwitz-Birkenau, where he was deported during the Second World War , the grandfather, originally from Osini but long since living in Gairo, where he married Elisa Mascia (who passed away in 2018), with whom he had three children, two of whom are still alive, and a lover of reading.

A former emigrant (he had worked for years in Germany as a laborer), since returning to the village he had always distinguished himself through his volunteer work. Mayor Sergio Lorrai expressed his condolences and sympathy to his loved ones.
