Furniture, armchairs, and garbage bags in Alghero's historic center: "Urban ban for uncivilized people."

An armchair in Piazza del Teatro, a piece of furniture and bags of garbage under the Cathedral bell tower, bags abandoned next to recycling bins, and wheeled trolleys left in the street obstructing pedestrians. This is the situation documented by the Suolo Pubblico Bene Comune Committee in the historic center of Alghero , which is the subject of a report sent to Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto and the relevant councilors.
As part of its urban quality awareness campaign, the Committee submitted a report, accompanied by photographs, highlighting several instances of degradation observed on the morning of Sunday, June 28. The critical areas include Piazza del Teatro, Via Roma beneath the Cathedral bell tower, Piazza Ginnasio, Via Ardoino, and Vicolo del Teatro.
According to the Committee, the presence of bulky waste, abandoned bags, and unattended recycling bins conveys an image of abandonment, neglect, and impunity, inconsistent with the historic and cultural value of the ancient city. Therefore, the Municipality is being asked to strengthen prevention and control efforts through local police patrols and inspectors from the Environmental Office, with the aim of identifying and penalizing those who abandon waste.
"It's even more incomprehensible," the Committee spokesperson emphasizes, "that bulky waste is left on the street when collection can be booked regularly. Why do we continue to choose these disposal methods?" The Committee calls for the enforcement of the applicable sanctions against those responsible and, provocatively, also proposes the introduction of a ban on urban waste disposal for those responsible for behavior that defaces the historic center.
