"No aggravating circumstance of premeditation for the Saladdino double homicide" . This was excluded by the judge of the Court of Assizes of the Court of Sassari, Massimo Zaniboni, as specified in the reasons for the life sentence issued, on 11 June, against Fulvio Baule , a 42-year-old bricklayer from Ploaghe who, on 26 February 2022, killed his in-laws, Basilio Saladdino and Liliana Mancusa, with an axe, reducing his ex-wife, Ilaria Saladdino, to the brink of death .

A massacre committed in Via Principessa Giovanna, in Porto Torres. In the ruling filed 90 days after the sentence, it is emphasized that " with reference to the aggravating circumstance of premeditation, it must be stated that this was not contested throughout the trial and, therefore, that it cannot be taken into account in the evaluation of responsibility for the crimes contested ". The judge did not even recognize the aggravating circumstance of futile reasons, while the aggravating circumstance of cruelty was accepted, due to the type of weapon used and the methods of action , an axe held in both hands with such a number of blows inflicted on the victims "as evidence of wickedness, moral insensitivity and particular ferocity".

Finally, having carried out the action on three people, with the same methods, in rapid succession, causing further suffering in witnessing the killing of one's loved one in a cruel way. The aggravating circumstance of having committed the crime in the presence of minors was also accepted, two twins who were then just one year old, both children of Ilaria Saladdino and Fulvio Baule . The further aggravating circumstance was recognized for having attacked the spouse, the ex-wife from whom he was separating. The Court also rejected the concession of the mitigating circumstances requested by the defense attorney Nicola Lucchi, who, following the reasons for the sentence, considered appealing.

For the responsibility of the criminal acts committed, in addition to the life sentence, the defendant Baule was also sentenced to solitary confinement for one year, in addition to the payment of all legal costs and provisional costs to the relatives of the victims who had constituted themselves as civil parties, with the lawyers Silvia Ferraris and Gian Mario Solinas.
