Fuel price alarm: Sardinian travel agents: "There's a drop, but we're optimistic for the summer."
Pileri (Fiavet): the island could have an advantage over other less safe destinationsVideo di Egidiangela Sechi
Fiavet is optimistic about the aviation fuel alert linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Travel agent representative Gian Mario Pileri is confident that the oil crisis will be resolved soon. "In recent weeks, there has been a slowdown in bookings," Pileri admits, "but 80% of the world remains available for upcoming vacations." Furthermore, Sardinia could have an advantage over other less secure destinations.
"Right now, we know very well that there shouldn't be any problems this summer, so I would reassure all tourists and even Sardinians who need to travel. However," Pileri adds, "it's normal that if this conflict were to end in 15 days, that's one thing. If it were to continue, it would become a problem, especially towards the end of the season, so from August onward."
The mind wanders to the past: "We've been through even more complicated situations: let's not forget the pandemic and the twin towers."
