Frozen fish passed off as fresh and seafood products lacking traceability: €12,000 fines in the Oristano area.

Fines of over 12,000 euros imposed by the Oristano Coast Guard as part of the checks on the fishing industry envisaged by Operation Nydia and conducted between March 30 and April 16 .
"The activities were carried out both at sea and on land," the Coast Guard explains, "with particular attention to the marketing and distribution of fish products, verifying compliance with regulations regarding traceability, labeling, and accurate consumer information."
As part of the inspections, the owner of an ethnic restaurant was also fined for providing false information on the menu to customers regarding the shelf life of the fish products, which were found to be frozen rather than fresh.
Further fines were also imposed on two fishmongers for holding products without traceability information .
In two restaurants in the Medio Campidano area, and in another in the Bosa area, approximately 55 kilograms of fish products were seized without documentation certifying their traceability .
