In Sardinia, everyone's crazy about beer . There are many producers, and even more consumers. At the end of 2025, the companies registered by the Chambers of Commerce numbered 45, 20 of which were artisanal. Compared to 2021, there are nine more businesses, three of which are artisanal. Direct employment is estimated at around 300. With related industries, the figure rises to eight hundred. These are the data emerging from a report produced by the Research Office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, based on UnionCamere-Infocamere 2026.
And 750,000 Sardinians have consumed beer (rarely, seasonally, or daily), spending over €70 million on its purchase (industrial or artisanal), equivalent to approximately €90 per family per year. Approximately 4 million liters of beer are produced on the island. There are 802 breweries in Italy, 313 of which are craft. The regional ranking is led by Lombardy with 110 breweries, while the national ranking of exclusively artisanal breweries is led by Piedmont with 34, with Sardinia occupying seventh place.
"As these numbers demonstrate," explains Giacomo Meloni, president of Confartigianato Sardegna , "the sector is growing daily. A world, that of small breweries, enriches the Sardinian region, where quality and craftsmanship are the fundamental coordinates that encompass production methods, raw materials used, as well as the professionalism, passion, and exceptional expertise of the artisan brewers. Therefore, it is a true cultural phenomenon and a growing sector, rich in opportunities and promising prospects, which Confartigianato Sardegna believes is the driving force behind the growth of an advanced and dynamic supply chain, with beneficial impacts and spin-offs across the board, from the growers to the food and wine and experiential tourism sector."
