Territorial continuity from Alghero is a cause for concern: Forza Italia is asking the Region to verify the sustainability of the new tender before October 5th and to provide an alternative solution to guarantee flights to Milan starting October 25th.

To avoid the risk of a disruption in the connection to Linate, the regional secretary of the Forza Italia party, Pietro Pittalis, and the national councilor, Marco Tedde, are urging Cagliari to find a solution.

The signals from the airline market, they explain, are worrying. On the one hand, Aeroitalia is reducing its Alghero-Fiumicino flight schedule due to insufficient demand during certain time slots; on the other, ITA Airways, whose CEO Joerg Eberhart has highlighted the growing impact of fuel on operating costs.

"Two major market players are telling us that costs and demand are now crucial variables for the sustainability of routes," Pittalis and Tedde emphasize, "and yet the new regional tender continues to provide capacity and frequencies that risk being disproportionate to actual demand."

According to the Forza Italia representatives, the simple increase in financial resources would not be sufficient to guarantee the success of the procedure if the operating conditions imposed on the carriers were not sustainable.

The request to Regional President Alessandra Todde and Transport Councilor Barbara Manca is to intervene before October 5th , verifying with the airlines the sustainability of the tender and possibly adjusting its parameters, if technically possible. Then, a Plan B is to be activated immediately in the event of another unsuccessful tender. "We're not asking for a declaration of intent, but rather a ready-made solution in case the tender fails. By October 5th, the Region must be able to inform citizens who will fly between Alghero and Milan starting October 25th, under what procedure, and with what guarantees of continuity."
