Former regional councilor of the mixed group, Valerio De Giorgi , and the Quartucciu builder Corrado Deiana were sentenced to 3 years and 6 months for corruption.
De Giorgi himself and his collaborator Marco Pili were acquitted of the charge of attempted fraud.
The decision was made by the Second Criminal Section of the Cagliari Court, presided over by Giovanni Massidda, at the end of the first-instance trial in the context of an investigation launched in 2022 by the economic-financial police unit of the Guardia di Finanza of the capital, coordinated by prosecutor Giangiacomo Pilia.
According to the prosecution, De Giorgi and Deiana, defended respectively by lawyers Patrizio Rovelli and Franco Villa, had agreed on an amendment to the Housing Plan (De Giorgi was president of the Budget Committee at the time) in exchange for a preliminary property purchase contract , while Pili, defended by lawyers Pierandrea Setzu and Renato Chiesa, had been investigated for alleged irregularities in the contributions allocated to the Pro Loco of Cagliari founded by people very close to De Giorgi, if not by his family members.
The lawyers have already announced that they will appeal.
