The Ministry for Made in Italy has confirmed the reindustrialization process at the Bekaert plant in Macchiareddu (Cagliari), which involves 160 workers, following an agreement reached with Nuova Icom, a Sardinian company operating in industrial plant engineering.

The ministry itself stated in a statement: "The industrial prospect identified for the Macchiareddu plant represents a concrete solution. Today we verified the solidity of the project , which allows us to look with greater confidence at safeguarding the 160 jobs, with the potential for a significant increase," declared Adolfo Urso , Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy.

"We will continue to monitor the operation together with the Sardinia Region and the trade unions, ensuring that the process can proceed on schedule and result in an effective relaunch of the site," he added.

The agreement provides for the acquisition of the factory specializing in the production of metal cords for tires and part of its facilities, with the rehiring of the workforce and the launch of a new production facility. The operation, "closely monitored by the Ministry, opens up concrete prospects for the industrial future of Sardinia and is the result of collaborative efforts between institutions, business, and unions through determined action aimed at transforming crises into new opportunities for development and employment."
