The protests will continue indefinitely, and further, more robust protests will be decided at the next assembly, scheduled for early next week. This was decided this morning after the workers' picket line in front of the Fluorsid plant. The protests were attended by representatives of the Filctem, Femca, and Uiltec unions, along with the CGIL, CISL, and UIL confederations, as well as the mayor of Assemini, M5S Senator Sabrina Licheri, AVS MP Francesca Ghirra, and several city councilors.

The unions recalled that on July 2, Fluorsid fired two workers and, despite repeated appeals, refuses to withdraw the dismissals and sit down at a negotiating table.

"This is a very serious attitude," said Giampiero Manca (Filctem), Mattia Carta (Femca), and Pierluigi Loi (Uiltec), "on the part of a company that receives public funding and persists in not formally declaring a crisis that, in effect, foresees a halving of production and a consequent unquantified number of redundancies."

During the demonstration, Filctem, Femca, and Uiltec also reported learning of discussions between the regional councilor for Industry and the company: "There appears to be initial positive feedback, but we await the immediate convening of a formal meeting that cannot ignore the withdrawal of the two unilateral dismissals."

The unions made a direct appeal to President Tommaso Giulini: "Accepting our demands, starting with the withdrawal of layoffs, will help bring the dispute back into the framework of shared rules that are essential for managing the company's difficulties."
