Another alarm bell has been sounded over Fluorsid . This time, it's the UGL union that's sounding it, expressing concern for the future of workers at the Macchiareddu company.

According to Andrea Geraldo, Cagliari's local secretary, these past few months have been "marked by a deafening silence and strong social tension. The announcement by Fluorsid's owners regarding job cuts, combined with the shutdown of another production line and a sulfuric acid plant, is bringing the situation to the point of no return."

"Despite the municipal and union meetings, the two layoffs already implemented by the company, the progressive loss of professionalism linked to this crisis," he explains, "and the declaration of a state of agitation by representatives of Ugl-Cgil-Uil, one wonders : has all this really aroused real interest and justified concern among politicians and trade unions? "

According to the UGL, "the complete lack of communication from Fluorsid's owners and the complete lack of a serious industrial plan—shared with the institutions and strategic companies essential to the site's survival—risk irreparably jeopardizing jobs. The question weighing heavily on workers and their families today is this: will politicians and social partners be able to reverse this trend, or will workers be faced with unilateral decisions on September 30th that portend only closure or relocation?"
