A torrential downpour hit the Sassari and Gallura regions around 5 p.m. Wednesday . The municipality of Ozieri, the "epicenter" of the storm, was particularly hard hit, with hail, rain, flooded streets, power outages, and even some basements submerged.

In half an hour, it was estimated, up to 44 millimeters of rain fell. When the storm abated, the town's streets appeared white, strewn with ice. "We were very scared; we've rarely seen anything like this," some residents reported.

Thunderstorms, with less intense effects, also affected other municipalities in the area, such as Nughedu San Nicolò, Pattada and Buddusò, and throughout the Monte Acuto area.
