"In Italy, storage is under control, and territorial continuity with Sardinia is ensured." This was reiterated by Gaetano Intrieri, CEO of Aeroitalia , speaking on the Coffee Break program on La7.
"At the European level," Intrieri explained, "we're seeing some contraction in jet fuel supplies, which has led to some flight cancellations. However, in Italy, the storage situation is under control; there are no supply issues, although the cost increase must be addressed. I want to reassure our passengers to and from Sardinia, where Aeroitalia operates under territorial continuity: there are no risks to our flights, but in general, our customers should not fear any repercussions."
Regarding safety, Intrieri added, "I exclude any risks related to underfilling aircraft tanks because there are international standards that cannot be exceeded . Furthermore, imported US fuel does not present compatibility issues with European carriers; however, the provenance of the kerosene needs to be verified, as some operators are purchasing it from a wide variety of countries, and it is important to understand how quickly refineries will be able to process this product."
