Five arrests were made during checks conducted by the Carabinieri of the Olbia Territorial Unit over the past weekend between Olbia and La Maddalena . The operations led to the arrest of a young man found in possession of cocaine and marijuana , a prisoner who escaped from house arrest , and three young men accused of committing a robbery at a business in Olbia's industrial zone.

The first intervention dates back to the evening of May 15, when officers from the La Maddalena Carabinieri Station stopped a 29-year-old local man. The young man, stopped while in his car, was found in possession of over 20 grams of cocaine, already divided into doses ready for sale . A subsequent house search also allowed officers to seize approximately 18 grams of marijuana, a precision scale, and materials used to package the doses . After a summary hearing held at the Tempio Pausania Courthouse, the 29-year-old was ordered to report to the judicial police.

On May 16, Carabinieri from the Olbia Poltu Quadu station arrested a 37-year-old repeat offender who had escaped house arrest in San Teodoro . The man was located near the Olbia Terranova train station and subsequently returned to his home.

The latest intervention occurred late Sunday evening, when the Carabinieri operations center in Olbia was alerted by a private security company that, through video surveillance cameras , had reported the suspicious presence of several individuals within the perimeter of a DIY store in the city's industrial area. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located three young men inside a van parked not far from the business. The men were unable to provide an explanation as to why they were there. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded several burglary tools, rolls of irrigation hose, and four garden hot tubs , which had been stolen shortly beforehand from the store, as confirmed by video surveillance footage. The three young men were arrested and placed under house arrest.
