The first suspects have been placed under investigation for the murder of Leonardo Mocci, the twenty-three-year-old from Villacidro killed by a gunshot on the night between Wednesday and Thursday in Piazza Settimio Severo, in Monserrato .
The breakthrough was expected, and the investigation has accelerated in the last few hours: the situation is evolving, and the documents served by the Prosecutor's Office on two individuals concern murder charges.
One of the two suspects in the crime, two brothers from Cagliari, has exercised their right to remain silent. A third person, from Quartu, is also under investigation for aiding and abetting.
According to the investigators' reconstruction—which has increasingly been confirmed—on his last night, Mocci had accompanied a friend to a meeting. A drug deal was supposed to be closing in Monserrato. However, the friend wasn't met by sellers, but by a gang of robbers who had arranged the meeting with the sole purpose of stealing the buyer's money. The twenty-three-year-old, thanks in part to his physical prowess, was supposed to be merely a foil, a guarantee of safety for his friend.
When the situation got dire, he allegedly confronted the group in the square: those who had arrived with him fled after being attacked. Mocci intervened; it's unclear whether there was a struggle. But it's certain that someone fired, hitting him in the heart.
It cannot be ruled out that further measures may be taken in the next few hours, also following a series of interrogations.
