Ten thousand signatures were enough, 210,729 arrived. A shock wave that no one, supporters and detractors, had expected. In the name of Pratobello, Sardinia has awakened against those who, behind the screen of green, are ready to cash in on billions in incentives (they are not non-profit organizations). For too many legislatures, Sardinian politics has buried its head in the sand, ignoring the alternatives to the coal that continues to be burned in Portovesme and Fiume Santo to turn on the lights at home and to provide (very expensive) energy to what remains of the industry.

In Porto Torres, about ten years ago, some legitimate grandchildren of Eni had set up a “green” project to produce electricity by burning thistles, biomass. A soap bubble, one of many in Sardinia, the only part of Europe not to have a pipe that carries methane. And if hydrogen is talked about in Puglia ( po nosu no ) thanks to Giuseppe Conte from Volturara Appula (Foggia), if hydroelectric power is a joke here because they make us empty the dams when it rains (the fault of politicians who are slaves to bureaucrats), here the wind and the sun become the solution to all evils. Let us give thanks to Mario Draghi and to the entire constitutional arc, in Rome as in Cagliari: the energy autarchy of the Belpaese passes through Sardinia, with a nice noose around its neck that, under the sea, will export the energy that we do not need, almost all of it. A mockery, even more so because the real price to pay, as with all the easements we already know, passes through the devastation of the territory, in this case with turbines and solar panels. And yet here we have already given, just look around. But the Draghi Government has rewritten the rules of the game in 2022, with the complicity of everyone, no one excluded, to stick shovels into the sea and on land, to take away fertile land from food production with the alibi of the sun. What do you want the mayors, the superintendents to count? Or the judges? That's what they decided, in Rome capital. If we then add a regional political class that has opened the doors without a murmur to an energy production that they were careful not to assign to Lombardy, the picture is complete.

And here the voice of this editorial group has risen high, long before the Sardinians punished the outgoing regional government, rewarding the alternative political proposal. Remembering every day that, thanks to our founding fathers (it was 1948) salvation is called the Special Statute of Sardinia, which assigns the Regional Council exclusive legislative power in urban planning matters. Up to now, around Via Roma they have been beating around the bush.

"Let's bring up the heroes of Pratobello", I wrote on March 13, 2022 on a historic front page, with the words Sos Sardinia on a map of the island marred by green projects. The race to speculate has continued unabated, with the void of politics (all of it) that has awakened a people, the Sardinian people, thanks to a popular initiative bill called "Pratobello 24". Ten thousand signatures were enough. Two hundred and ten thousand seven hundred and twenty-nine arrived. In the middle of summer, thanks to the tireless work of committees, mayors, councilors, thanks to the commitment of many municipal officials, under the sun or without air conditioning, an unprecedented response has arrived throughout the Italian territory. Objective: to stop the carnage and look to hydrogen (now, not until the end) as a true renewable energy source. An assist for the Sardinian political class. Thanks to the voice of the people, you find the courage and pride to say "no" to the Draghis, to the Melonis, to the Pichetto Fratins, to the false bearers of the only, true interest of the Sardinians: a land worthy of being lived in by our children and our grandchildren. Forever and ever.
