It was yet another hellish day for Sardinia, marked by at least 14 fires, three of which required the intervention of the regional and national air fleet.

The largest outbreak occurred in the countryside of Sindia, in the Riu Carrabusu area , where flames, fueled by wind and dry vegetation, devoured over one hundred hectares of pastures, Mediterranean scrub, and uncultivated land. The situation threatened to escalate, even threatening some local farms.

The firefighting operations began with a massive deployment of forces: coordinated by the Macomer Forestry Corps station, they also included the GAUF of Nuoro, the forestry stations of Bolotana and Sorgono, the Forestas teams, the firefighters, the barracelli of Macomer and Borore, and the volunteers of the "Mariano Falchi" association. From the sky, an entire fleet of helicopters took flight: four regional helicopters (from Bosa, Anela, Farcana, and Fenosu) and three Canadairs from Olbia. This massive response was necessary to contain the advance of the fire, which continued to require the relentless work of men and equipment into the late afternoon.

No less worrying is the fire that has broken out in the countryside of Sardara, in the Bruncu Cresia area , where two active fire fronts are attacking the vegetation. Here, teams from the Sanluri Forestry Corps, with the support of the Cagliari GAUF, are supported by helicopters from the Pula, Sorgono, and San Cosimo bases. On the ground, Forestas, Barracelli, and volunteers from the Sardara AVPC are operating in a still critical and evolving scenario.

Finally, the fire that had hit the Carbonia countryside yesterday, in the Campu Frassolis area, has flared up again. A renewed outbreak of flames required a new helicopter intervention from the Pula base. The alarm was not raised until early afternoon, at 2:28 PM.
