The garbage fires on the outskirts of Selargius are continuing; in fact, they're increasing: two or three times a week, at sunset, the air around Is Corrias, Su Planu, and Barracca Manna becomes unbreathable . So the newly formed Is Corrias-Su Pezzu Mannu neighborhood committee decided to send a signal, meeting this morning for the first time in one of the most targeted areas, the land next to the Su Pezzu Mannu ecocenter .

Faced with the black cemetery of household appliances, garbage bags, and wrecked vehicles, about fifteen members once again denounced the situation.

"The problem must be solved. We're talking about people's health, who can't even open their windows in the summer," explains Omar Zaher, city councilor and one of the committee's representatives. "The least we can do is fence off the land where the fires are set and install surveillance cameras. Furthermore, since the fires are always lit at the same times, the barracelli or forestry officers in Selargius could set up lookouts."
