A 47-year-old firefighter from Arzana, Antonello Melis, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and a €15,000 provisional payment, according to a decision by the Tempio Court. Melis, who served in Gallura, was accused of permanently disfiguring a 45-year-old man from Tempio (an incident that occurred in 2023 in a bar in Tempio).
According to Public Prosecutor Sebastiano Carpinato, the victim suffered irreparable damage to her face and identity due to a bite that severed part of her nose.
Before the judges, the 45-year-old victim stated: "I entered the bar, this person had an argument with my brother. Then, as I was leaving, I was attacked. I underwent four reconstructive surgeries."
The alleged offense is prejudicial; a suspended sentence cannot be granted. Attorney Monica Liguori has joined the civil action on behalf of the injured party, while Antonello Melis is represented by attorney Lara Sini. The ruling was issued by a panel of judges presided over by Caterina Interlandi.
