Wind-fueled fire near the military airport. Dozens of helicopter launches from the Search and Rescue Center supported ground teams.Fire alarm near the Decimomannu military airport. To put out the flames, fueled by a strong mistral wind, a helicopter from the 80th SAR (Search and Rescue) Center of the 15th Wing was deployed.
The mission was ordered by the airport commander in coordination with the Poggio Renatico Aerospace Operations Command, to allow for rapid intervention before the fire could spread to the surrounding countryside and cause extensive damage, as occurred in Serramanna just a few days ago.
The crew operated for over two hours, carrying out 45 water drops on the flames, for a total of approximately 35,000 litres of water , providing an important contribution to extinguishing the fire in collaboration with the ground teams.
