A fire is burning in the Bortigiadas countryside, near Corso La Fronti. Firefighting operations are underway, coordinated by the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps. The Director of Firefighting Operations (DOS) of the Bortigiadas Forestry Station is on site.
A helicopter from the Limbara operations base was initially deployed to battle the flames. The helicopter is also operating the area with a thermal imaging camera to more precisely pinpoint the areas still affected by the fire and monitor the progress of the front.
The situation is further complicated by frequent changes in wind direction, which are encouraging the flames to spread and making containment operations more difficult. For this reason, a Canadair, CAN 8, a Super Puma helicopter from the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps' base in Alà dei Sardi, and a second Canadair from Olbia airport have been dispatched.
