The Municipality of Cagliari collected more than 4 and a half million from fines in 2023 . To be precise, the proceeds from sanctions against private individuals for violations of the Highway Code amount to 4,656,902 euros.
A figure that emerges from the analysis carried out by Facile.it on Siope data, the information system for public transport operations.
Among the Sardinian provincial capitals , Sassari is in second place, with 2,075,787 euros . Nuoro follows with 447,251 euros, then Oristano with 86,480 euros .
Among the small municipalities, the figure for Monastir stands out which, with 4,452 inhabitants , grossed over 2.2 million euros in 2023. To give even more prominence to this proportionally exaggerated figure, just think that, among the municipalities with less than 5 thousand residents, in second place is Villasimius, which collected just over 148 thousand euros. A huge difference.
The value of "fine per capita" was also calculated, i.e. the ratio between the proceeds recorded in Siope and the number of residents , although it should be noted that in several areas many fines are inflicted on tourists and commuters.
Also in this case , Cagliari is in first place, with a per capita fine of 31 euros . Followed by Sassari (17 euros), Nuoro with 13 and, finally, Oristano with just 3 euros . Again, to give an idea of the Monastir data, the value of "fine per capita" in the small municipality is 494 euros .
