Sardinian pasta filata meets the refinement of silk threads, the delicacy of filigree and the character of coral, all enclosed in a resin that preserves and enhances the beauty of the materials worked by the island's artisans. In Sennori, thanks to the idea of pastry chef Gianfranca Dettori , Filos was born, a project that combines tradition, art and innovation through a line of jewelry.

The idea began almost by chance, when Gianfranca was preparing some pasta filata wafers for a traditional dessert. Some scraps were left over, and, as often happens to creative people, they turned out to be the opportunity for a new project. "I thought of keeping the wafers to show them to my customers during a workshop, to explain how the spinning weave works," says Gianfranca. One day, revisiting those fragments of pasta, he had an intuition: to transform them into a small jewel.

However, the pasta filata, being fragile, would not last over time. With the help of a young artist who works with resin, Gianfranca found a way to preserve those thin sheets of pasta, which merged perfectly with the material, keeping their original weave intact. Thus was born the first jewel, a symbol of Sardinian tradition. Later, the idea of enriching the creation with filigree and coral details took shape, completing the project with a Sardinian silk necklace made by Maria Corda , an artisan from Orgosolo who still works with bacchus.

Gianfranca plans to expand the project: «We want to bring it to all of Sardinia, but also to national and international fairs. Sardinia has a unique history, and we want to tell it also through the work of all the artisans who have joined this initiative». For the artist from Sennori, Sardinian craftsmanship still has a future. « There is always room for beauty, especially Sardinian beauty. We just need to know how to make it known and valued more ».
