An award that, after more than thirty years, ideally returns to its origins. The Municipality of Alghero awarded Carlo Sechi the "Fidelitat a l'Alguer" prize, awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves in the protection and promotion of the language, culture, and traditions of Alghero.

The award was presented on Friday evening at San Francesco by Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, who recalled Sechi's long-standing commitment as a scholar, activist, and administrator in defending Alghero's Catalan language and promoting cultural and educational initiatives related to the city's identity. The ceremony takes on a special significance given the history of the award.

The "Fidelitat a l'Alguer" award was established in 1995, during Carlo Sechi's term as mayor. Over thirty years later, the prize has been awarded to one of the key figures in its creation. "Carlo dedicated a significant portion of his life to the Catalan of Alghero," Cacciotto emphasized, "passionately contributing to the preservation of our cultural identity." The mayor then expressed the community's thanks to Sechi for what he has done and continues to do for Alghero, "for our language and for transmitting our identity to new generations. Gracies de cor, Carlo," Cacciotto concluded.
