Few flights to the island and too expensive? "It's the fault of the European Union's restrictions," says Transport councilor Antonio Moro , who spoke on the sidelines of the Ryanair press conference at Cagliari airport.
«At the last meeting we asked the ministry to join forces with ENAC to return to the EU Commission and ask that criteria be reserved for Sardinia in the next call for tenders which allow for an increase in the number of frequencies , given that resident traffic is growing. The Region does everything to guarantee the connection of the island with the rest of Italy, the free part is left to the market and to the business of the carriers".
Tourism councilor Gianni Chessa also intervened on the subject, according to which the problems can be tackled by diluting the flows in the rest of the year: « The new idea of tourism is already in place, there has never been a tourist offer wider than the one we put up . I have promoted many initiatives such as sports tourism, religious walks and identity festivals that take place outside the months of July and August, because we are calm about those. Our commitment is to enhance the interior of Sardinia, we must ensure that we can enjoy tourism all year round».
