Returning the former super-prison of Fornelli dell'Asinara to the community .
The appeal was launched by the organizers and artistic director Sante Maurizi of the 19th edition of the festival “Pensieri e Parole: libri e film all'Asinara”, a request addressed to the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde for the recovery of the building, in use by the Conservatoria delle Coste, since 2017.
In the petition, launched on the change.org platform (https://chng.it/Bs4V2QHbXn) the festival organizers ask to activate the same path also for the Cala d'Oliva guesthouse that in 1985 hosted the judges Falcone and Borsellino , today used as a station of the Forestry Corps, and the famous bunker where the mafia boss Totò Riina was detained . The hope is the creation of an institutional coordination group between the Sardinia Region, the municipality of Porto Torres and the National Park to define a shared project path and the management methods of the three structures.
«The ordinary use of the sites, symbols of legality and historical memory – they explain – could enrich the opportunities offered by the island with the setting up of agile museum structures and laboratory activities aimed especially at the new generations: the most effective way to ensure that Asinara, in addition to being a place of extraordinary environmental interest, becomes the place of the best national historical memory in the fight against the mafia , terrorism and common crime ».
Values and messages also contained in this edition of the festival, in the two evenings of cinema, music and literature, hosted on August 24 and 25 at the Fornelli pier.

State Murder”, and by the presentation of the mystery by Nora Venturini, theater director and screenwriter, “Una morte senza peso” together with the president of ARCI Nord Sardegna, Franco Uda.
On Sunday 25th, after the opening concert entitled “Mamma Mia dammi cento lire”, the journalist Giacomo Mameli will talk with the honorary president of the Libera association, Nando Dalla Chiesa , about his book “Le ribelli”, stories of women who challenged the mafia. The festival closes with the award to Giulio Scarpati , a celebration for the thirtieth anniversary of his interpretation of the young Sicilian judge Rosario Livatino in 1994's “Il giudice ragazzino”, dedicated to the life of the magistrate killed by the mafia on 21 September 1990, who the former public prosecutor, now deputy prosecutor, Gianni Caria, will remember in his monologue “Rosario va in pensione”.
