The Sassari Court of Appeal also holds Francesco Baingio Douglas Fadda responsible for the murder of his partner, Zednka Krejcikova , a 48-year-old of Czech origin. For the 47-year-old man, the life sentence inflicted by the judges in the first instance sentence dating back to March 15, 2022 was confirmed .

The woman had been stabbed in a bar in Sorso on January 15, 2020 and left to die in a house in Ossi where Fadda had abandoned her dying before fleeing with the victim's daughters, 11-year-old twin girls.

The man, defended by the criminal lawyer Lorenzo Galisai, was present in the courtroom. He has always declared himself innocent, supporting the usual thesis, namely that the partner injured herself by slipping and falling on the knife that she was holding while he was trying to disarm her .

His lawyer called the first instance ruling "illogical". "The due investigations, even more necessary in the event of a life sentence, have not been made - he said announcing an appeal to the Cassation ".

The judges, accepting the request for life imprisonment requested by the attorney general Francesca Pischedda and by the civil party lawyers, ordered life imprisonment with a sentence that follows in all respects that of the first degree: homicide aggravated by premeditation, committed with cruelty towards a person to whom Fadda was romantically linked , as well as resistance, kidnapping, torture and illegal carrying of a knife.
