He should have made spontaneous statements before listening to the indictment of the Attorney General, but Francesco Baingio Douglas Fadda, the 47-year-old from Sorso sentenced to life imprisonment in the first instance for the femicide of his 41-year-old partner of Czech origin Zdenka Krejcikova , did not appear this morning at the the courtroom of the Sassari Court of Appeal because he is ill.
A communication to the Court has arrived from the Bancali prison, where he is being held, explaining that Fadda refused to be accompanied to the hearing, saying he was ill, and also refused to be visited in the prison infirmary .
The Court granted the postponement of the hearing to May 29 and arranged for the defendant to participate in videoconference from prison. After the opening of the appeal process on January 23, this is the third time that a hearing has been postponed due to the precarious health of the accused .
On January 15, 2020 , the woman was wounded with a knife in a bar in Sorso and died after slow agony in a house in Ossi where Fadda had left her before leaving in the middle of the night with the victim's two eleven-year-old twin daughters.
The court of Sassari sentenced him to life imprisonment for voluntary homicide aggravated by premeditation, committed cruelly against a person to whom he was romantically linked, as well as resistance, torture, illegal carrying of a knife and kidnapping. He has always pleaded innocent, claiming that the partner had injured herself by slipping and falling on the knife she was holding .
