It was a night of pure terror yesterday for residents of an apartment building on Via Ciociaria, in the Is Mirrionis neighborhood. A man in a clearly agitated state, shirtless and with his shorts pulled down so as to expose his genitals, broke into the building, attempting to force entry into several apartments.
The testimony of Valerio Crobeddu , a local resident still deeply shaken, reconstructs the turbulent phases and the gravity of the incident. The intruder initially attempted to climb over a wooden barrier placed at the threshold of Crobeddu's home (he, like many others in the building, is in the habit of keeping the door open for ventilation on hot days, placing a wooden barrier to prevent insects, etc.) to enter his home, where his daughters were also present at the time. The immediate intervention of one of them prevented the worst, sending the man fleeing.
But the intruder didn't stop. After being chased away, the man descended to the first floor of the building, this time managing to gain access to an elderly woman's apartment, presenting himself to her in an indecent state. A few moments later, a dramatic encounter with Crobeddu himself occurred. Leaving the house on crutches (he had recently been in a car accident) to see what was happening, Crobeddu found himself face to face with the individual at the elevator exit. The worst was averted by the arrival of another neighbor, who came up from the lower floor accompanied by her dog . At the sight of the animal, the intruder froze, stammering an improvised apology ("Sorry, sorry, I'm leaving") before quickly reversing and exiting the building.
" I'm still devastated by what happened and I'm shaking. I've never seen anything like this in my life, " Crobeddu said in his appeal to the neighborhood, posted in a video on social media. "We're dealing with people who are completely out of control; what happened is not normal. If I had been healthy and without crutches, the situation could have ended differently, but right now it's crucial that everyone stay alert, lock their doors, and immediately call 911 if they see him again."
