There were moments of fear in Villacidro , in the Villascema area, where two campers were awakened during the night by gunshots fired at their van . The incident occurred around 5 a.m. The two were sleeping when they heard the shots and found their windshields shattered. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The alarm was raised immediately thanks to an emergency chat activated by the smartphone's satellite system, which alerted the Carabinieri of the Villacidro Company. The Sardara military, along with the Operations and Radiomobile Unit and the Villacidro Station , responded to the scene and immediately began a search.

During the checks, attention was also focused on a local sheepfold used by a 55-year-old farmer, already known to law enforcement. During the search, the Carabinieri found and seized a 16-gauge shotgun with its serial number removed, two shotgun barrels in poor condition and without identifying marks, as well as thirty-five illegally held cartridges of various calibers . The man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed weapon and ammunition and placed under house arrest pending a validation hearing. The seized weapon, at this time, appears not to be connected to the shooting.
