A sudden illness while swimming in the waters in front of Cala Goloritzè cost the life of a foreign tourist, who died today in the early afternoon despite the timely intervention of the nautical operators present at that moment in the stretch of water in front of the delimitation buoys and of the boys from the municipality of Baunei assigned to surveillance along the coast.

The bather in difficulty, spotted in the water by other tourists, was immediately rescued and transported by dinghy to the beach by a skipper but his condition immediately turned out to be serious. Among the rescuers who intervened was also a doctor who was part of the crew of a yacht moored in front of the coast , not far from the point where the tourist had taken ill, a doctor who reached the beach on board the service dinghy of the municipal security guards.

The unfortunate tourist, fifty-five years old , had left in the morning from the port of Cala Gonone together with his family, aboard a dinghy with a driver, to take a mini-cruise along the Baunese coast. Around three in the afternoon he fell ill.

The emergency helicopter that arrived from Olbia could do nothing but collect the body and transfer it to the hospital in Nuoro , where the causes of death will be ascertained.
