The 39-year-old from Guspini had taken cocaine, involved in the road accident on the 126 on 30 December last, in which 89-year-old Angelo Serpi died.
The carabinieri of the Villacidro station reported him in a state of freedom to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cagliari for road murder and driving in a state of psychophysical alteration due to the use of drugs: from toxicological tests performed on blood and urine samples, carried out at the civil hospital of San Gavino Monreale, the man tested positive for the use of cocaine.
The sampling took place immediately after the accident: on the day before New Year's Eve, around 13.30 the victim, Angelo Serpi, driving his Fiat Punto, was leaving a rural road in the locality of Sa Zeppara to enter the State road 126, at kilometer 93, and head towards San Nicolò d'Arcidano. Guspini's 39-year-old was traveling from Arcidano to Guspini at the wheel of his Ford Focus. The impact between the two vehicles had been violent, so much so as to require the intervention of the carabinieri, two ambulances and the firefighters who had secured the two vehicles involved.
Both drivers had been taken to hospital: the 39-year-old to Nostra Signora di Bonaria, in San Gavino Monreale, Angelo Serpi al Brotzu, in Cagliari. However, Serpi's conditions worsened in a short time; on 2 January, three days after the crash, he died of polytrauma caused by the impact.
