A conviction and an acquittal: this is the decision of the Tempio Gup preliminary hearing judge, Marcella Pinna, in the trial for the tragic nautical accident that cost the life of the German manager Dean Krosbein, which occurred in Porto Cervo on 31 July 2022 .
The skipper of the yacht Amore, owned by the victim, was held responsible for the accident.
The man in question is Mario Lallone , who was sentenced to two years in prison . Luigi Cortese, captain of the yacht Sweet Dragon , involved in the tragic shipwreck, was acquitted.
The captain of the vessel, owned by Silvio Berlusconi, defended by criminal lawyer Fabio Varone, was cleared of all charges.
The two yachts collided in the Li Nibani stretch of sea, and Amore crashed onto the rocks. There was nothing the owner could do.
Attorney Fabio Varone stated: " I am very satisfied with my client's full acquittal of all the charges, because it does justice to Captain Cortese and his conduct, which, from the very beginning, we deemed unrelated to the Amore accident . His conduct," he added, "was completely compliant with international and local navigation regulations. This is also because Captain Cortese suffered greatly from the initial reports in the national media regarding his alleged liability. I must express my personal gratitude to my co-defendant, Professor Zampone, and the expert witnesses, who did an exceptional job. I also owe a debt of gratitude," the lawyer concluded, "to two people who are sadly no longer with us: my colleague, lawyer Nicolò Ghedini , who had supported my appointment as my trusted defense attorney, and President Silvio Berlusconi, owner of the Sweet Dragon 2 , who, with a telephone call, had made it a point to personally demonstrate his trust in me."
