Fatal accident around 1.20pm on road 293, at the intersection with via della Libertà in Nuxis.
A 41-year-old motorcyclist, Dario Melis, deputy mayor of the town, lost his life in the collision between a car – a Seat Ateca – and a motorbike.
According to the initial reconstruction by the Nuxis Carabinieri, who intervened on site with the support of their colleagues from Narcao and Carbonia, the car rented by four tourists - three of whom were injured and transported to Sirai in Carbonia with a yellow code - and driven by a 70-year-old woman allegedly entered the state road without giving priority to Melis' Honda motorbike, which was proceeding on the 293 towards Siliqua.
The vehicles involved in the accident were seized. For the driver, however, the hospital has activated the expected alcohol and toxicology tests.
Meanwhile, the Carabinieri are trying to establish the exact dynamics of the accident.
